BARDO

Starting point: Feminist Library, 5 Westminster Bridge Road, SE1 7XW
Finishing point: Gordon Square, WC1

Programmed for Calm Down, Dear 2016, a festival of innovative feminist theatre.

What is it to walk a line of uncertainty, to experience a Bardo?

Bardo is a Tibetan word that depicts being in a realm of transition. Often it is assumed to be undesirable; full of uncertainty and unrest, suspended between life and death. But this realm can fuel creativity. It can overturn the old and summon the new.

Walkers will experience a bardo with a soundtrack of stories and sound, with live intervention.

The walk itself takes approx 1hour and 15 minutes. We will be walking together at an average walking pace. Please wear appropriate footwear. A bathroom break is scheduled en route.

Devised by Feminist Library’s inaugural Writer in Residence, Caroline Smith, in partnership with Feminist Library, The Beth Centre and Camden People’s Theatre. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
