Walworth CAN Meeting

Plans afoot for a Walworth Neighbourhood Plan

Neighbourhood planning gives communities direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and shape the development and growth of their local area.

They are able to choose where they want new homes, shops and offices to be built, have their say on what those new buildings should look like and what infrastructure should be provided, and grant planning permission for the new buildings they want to see go ahead.

Southwark council recently approved an application by the Elephant and Walworth Neighbourhood Forum to take forward neighbourhood planning in the Elephant and Castle and Walworth area.

Since reaching agreement over the revised boundary area, they have been working on the preliminary stages of drawing up their neighbourhood plan across the following four themes:

  • Green Space & Infrastructure
  • Housing
  • Local Business
  • Heritage & Community Assets

This meeting will provide a great opportunity for you to find out more about what this means and to have your say about the future of the Walworth area!

The second half the meeting will provide attendees with a platform to discuss anything Walworth related, as well as providing the opportunity for you to share any news and information that is relevant to the area.
