Peckham and Nunhead has the largest population of Southwark’s Community Council areas and contains two of the borough’s most deprived wards: Livesey and Peckham.

Compared to the rest of the borough it has:

  • the largest proportion of under 15s (22% compared to the borough average of 19%).


  • a higher proportion of households living in social rented accommodation.
  • the highest proportion of benefit claimants in the borough (17% compared to the national average of 14%).
  • the lowest proportion of White residents (45%) and the highest proportion of Black/African/Caribbean/Black British residents (38%) in Southwark.

Your local councilors

The London Borough of Southwark is made up of 21 wards. Three councillors are elected from each ward, making a total of 63 councillors. The Labour party currently has 48 councillors, the Liberal Democrat party has 13 and the Conservative party has two.

These are the elected representatives that represent the people of Peckham and Nunhead. Get in touch with them if you have an issue that is affecting you or the area you live in. Some of them are even nice!
