A Focus on Nunhead... at Last!
This Peckham & Nunhead CAN meeting is going to focus wholly upon Nunhead, and upon the people who are active in trying to improve things in the area, and the issues and concerns that local people consider the most important.
We’ve been meeting with local people, groups and networks; and engaging in issues that have been high on peoples’ agendas on local social networks. Though there are many issues that people are concerned about, two themes emerged as the most immediately important, these being:
· Inter-generational Issues and Relationships
· Proposal for a Sunday morning market on Nunhead Green.
And these will now form the focus for discussions on 27th July.
From the range of issues that have been raised, it would seem that there are plenty of reasons why regular Nunhead-specific CAN meetings (co-ordinated with The Green) might be needed in the future. These could provide the time and space to help active citizens connect their thoughts and views, identify issues of mutual concern, and find ways of securing change by taking action by working together. It could also provide the opportunity to develop a stronger voice for Nunhead’s communities, and more inclusive representation of those least able to represent themselves.
NOTE THE CHANGES TO MEETING TIME
Arrive at 4.30pm for some networking time; the meeting will start at 5.00pm with the discussion about the Sunday market commencing at around 6.00pm. Hopefully there will be time at the end to collect together people’s views for future agenda items.
