Peckham is gearing up for a four-day celebration of creativity, the arts, culture and food at the inaugural Peckham Festival to be held at venues and sites around Central Peckham from Thursday 8 until Sunday 11 September.
The event, produced by Copeland Park, the folks behind the Bussey Building, and sponsored bySouthwark Council and The Acorn Group, will showcase the best art, culture and entrepreneurialism in the area with Open Studios, Open Factories and events taking place across Peckham.
The entire programme of events reflects the collective effort of Peckham-based creatives coming together, and has been made possible with the help of creative locals who have been volunteering, supporting, and taking part.
At the centre of the Peckham Festival is an Open Studios with over 70 artists and creatives opening their studios for the public to take a peek. In addition, there will be theatre, film, music, dance and comedy performances, as well as Late Night Gallery events and individual walks, talks and workshops involving a number of local businesses and organisations including The Peckham Coaline, The NINES and Peckham Soul.
On the opening night of the Festival, a brand-new body of 5 commissioned artworks will be unveiled, all involving collaborations between artists and traders on Rye Lane.
Other festival highlights include ‘The Great Peckham Sketch-In’, ‘The Reflecting Peckham Exhibition’ and Cycle Powered outdoor cinema. The majority of events and workshops are free, but festival goers can sign up to some of the workshops, performances and events on our website prior to the Festival.
