Southwark Council are currently reviewing their approach to Community Engagement. This will be done in two stages. The first stage will look at the vision and principles, and the second will look at the approaches they will use to deliver the vision. The Council aims to report to Cabinet in April a new vision and the principles that will underpin this. Work on the approaches to delivery will begin after this.
The Council is very keen to develop the vision and principles by working with residents, community groups, voluntary sector organisations and staff working in the field of community engagement. The Council has therefore organised two workshops to explore the what the vison and principles should be.
We would really like you to take part in this process. Two workshops have been scheduled - one on 4 February and one on 12 Februarywhere all attendees will discuss what should be the Southwark vision for Community Engagement and what are the key principles that will underpin the way we will work. To make sure that as many people as possible can take part in these sessions two workshops will be held on each day;
As the dates cover different aspects of engagement, we hope that as many of you as possible will will be able to attend both dates.
4 February - What does good engagement look like? 3pm to 5 pm and again 6pm to 8pm (you will only need to attend one of these) Cambridge House 1Addington Square SE5 0HF
12 February – What are the ingredients needed to deliver good community engagement? - 3pm to 5pm and again 6pm to 8pm (you will only need to attend one of these) Cambridge House, 1 Addington Square, Camberwell, SE5 0HF
The aim is to explore and discuss:
What do we mean by community engagement and what activities will be covered by the approach
What have people said matters through the Southwark conversation and other consultation and engagement work
Examples of good practice from elsewhere
What do you think should be our vison and principles
Please let the Council's Community Engagement Team know if you would like to take part and the date and time of sessions you will be able to attend to help them plan the workshops. Rsvp to the Community Engagement Team
