Community Safety in Rotherhithe
Rotherhithe CAN will be hosting its first meeting for 2018 at the new community space managed by Time and Talents in partnership with British Land, United St Saviours and Southwark Council.
Some feedback from the last meeting was that the time of community meetings in general need to be a bit more flexible. In response to this, we will be hosting the meeting from 12:30-2:00pm.
The last meeting provided a chance for local people to find out more about the successful Illuminate Rotherhithe event as well as the proposed plans for the upcoming Mayflower 2020 events. A number of attendees explored concerns about rising crime in the area, but felt they were unable to attend Safer Neighbourhood Team meetings due to time, family needs, and work.
This meeting will concentrate on the needs of Rotherhithe with respect to community safety, how crime hotspots are identified, and the local community engagement with the local police team. PC Stu Whyte, the Community and Faith Engagement Officer for Southwark police, will be present for the first half of the meeting which will provide further insight on the themes of community safety and avenues of reporting.
The second half of the meeting will provide attendees with a platform to discuss any other issues that you might want to raise, as well as providing the opportunity to share any news and information that is relevant to Rotherhithe.
Refreshments will be provided.
This will be very important in helping to create changes in the area, and steer themes for CAN meetings in the future.
