The Small Groups Network meeting brings together people from community groups that are either completely run by volunteers, or have fewer than 2 paid members of staff. It is an opportunity to think about grassroots activity in the borough, network and meet others, and get support and information that is tailored to your needs.
What's on the Agenda for the January 2017 Meeting?
Setting up/running a Social Enterprise
When is a Social Enterprise model likely to be appropriate to deliver your mission? Why should you consider the model? What are the benefits and what type of funding is available under this model?
The government has been an advocate of the social enterprise model and developed a range of programmes to make it an attractive platform to adopt. It also features strongly in the government's Big Society agenda and subsequent policies. Come and find out more!
Our guest speaker is Uday Thakkar, who is a key figure in the social enterprise arena and also Managing Director of Red Ochre, a specialist organisation and social enterprise working to deliver social change in the UK and abroad. Uday is also a chartered accountant by profession.
Recruiting & retaining volunteers
As a mainstay of community action and development there is every reason to get your volunteering approaches spot on! Marissa Charles from the Volunteering Team at Community Southwark will join us to discuss this very important subject.
