Southwark Neighbourhood Watch Association AGM

Dear Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator / TRA Representative

The Annual General Meeting of SNWA will take place as above. You are invited to attend in your eligible capacity as a Local Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator, or as Chairman of a Tenants & Residents Association which also has a Neighbourhood Watch function, or as a Nominated Representative of one of these, in either case located within the London Borough of Southwark.

The Meeting on 8th March 2018 is a crucial one because two Officers of SNWA elected in 2014 retired last year (the two remaining being time-expired) under the SNWA Constitution, and so there remain vacancies for the honorary posts of Chairman, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Committee of at least six other Members to serve from 2018 to 2021. I should add that at the present time the SNWA is inquorate.

The function of SNWA is to increase public participation in the prevention and detection of crime, promote good citizenship and greater public awareness through neighbourhood and home watch groups, to help increase community safety and reduce the fear of crime, and to improve police / community liaison. For these objectives only, SNWA may represent the interests of its constituents at Southwark Safer Neighbourhood Board, provide services for Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators, and work with police to further these aims. There is aaccountable budget to assist with these aims.

At the 8th March 2018 AGM modest refreshments will be provided, according to numbers attending. Therefore would you be so kind as to let me know as soon as possible (and in any event before 1st March 2018) whether or not you are likely to attend this Meeting, and if so whether you might be interested to serve as an Officer or on the Committee. If you state your interest thus, I will email to you a copy of SNWA Constitution.

Access to Dulwich Public Library is via Bus Numbers 176, 185, 197, 40, 12 stopping / terminating at Dulwich Library bus stop (or by rail to East Dulwich Station or Denmark Hill Station from London Bridge, then 176 bus toward Penge or 185 bus toward Lewisham; there is no convenient direct bus service from North Dulwich or West Dulwich Stations). Street parking is limited in the immediate vicinity of Dulwich Library although there are spaces (no charge) to be found in nearby Court Lane which is a few minutes’ walk from the Library.

I look forward to your reply, and if possible your attendance.
