Winter Wassail

Peckham Coal Line with Friends of Cossall Park & Kirkwood Nature Reserve invite you to a seasonal winter wassail*

Come and wish the fruit trees well as the new growing season commences. Local choir Peckham Rye Sings will be on hand to bring some tunes to the nature reserve and Penny, of Pickling Peckham fame, will cook up some tasty foraged delights.

They’ll also be an opportunity to come and view the model of the proposed Peckham Coal Line and share your story about how you would use the Peckham Coal Line in the future.

How to find Kirkwood Nature Reserve:

Eastern entrance via Cossall Walk and Kirkwood Road
Western entrance via Bidwell Street
Nearest Station - Queen’s Road Peckham, a 5 min walk away

*For those of you interested in the origins of Wassails - it’s a tradition from the south west of England where people come together sing and drink to fruit trees (typically apple trees) in a custom intended to ensure a fruitful crop.
