What you will learn:
Day 1: The nuts and bolts of narrative and plot with a screenwriting expert. Brainstorming themes, choices will be made about how to approach the issue you have decided on. Working in small groups you will gather information and material outside of the workshop for your particular strand; photography and filming will be required.
Day 2: The raw material will be turned into a storyboard and screenplay. You will learn how to use Celtx scriptwriting software and how to put together a storyboard. The aim is to finish up with a completed, collaborative screenplay, fusing the different ideas from the group.
Day 3: How to turn the completed script into a film. With an experienced filmmaker and editor you will learn how to plan a film using different camera shots, sound and lighting effects helping you to visualise your ideas.
There will be opportunities to shoot the film post workshop. This will be negotiated with the group over the following weeks.
A film screening event will occur later in the year as part of the Women in Film event during the Nunhead and Peckham Free Film Festival 2018.
Having a mobile phone or digital camera is essential for this workshop, if you have a lap top you will need to bring it in for day two.
